Symptoms
The memory allocation of the search crawler can spike when a user runs a search while search crawling is ongoing. This in turn can result in the server going out of memory and generating a heapdump. The heapdump causes crawling to completely stop.
After the issue occurred, the Search Crawler queue doesn't go down anymore (only up) and a heapdump can be found in the site service page. When opening the heapdump, the SELuceneIndexSearcherInstanceThreadedGC takes up almost all the available space.
